Children in Class 4 go swimming every Monday morning. Children require a labelled swimming bag containing a swimming costume and towel. They are also required to wear a swimming hat, which can be bought from chemists or sports shops. Goggles are not encouraged. They should only be required when chemicals are a problem, or for medical reasons. Jewellery should not be worn for swimming.
Hair should be suitably cut for school with no shaved motifs. Long hair should be tied back away from the face.
Girls in Classes 4, 5 and 6 may, if they wish, wear headscarves. Scarves should be of a shorter length and fit across the forehead and be tied behind the ears. To minimise any possibility of a serious injury, we ask that headscarves should not be tied under the chin. Headscarves should be in the school colours of navy blue or white.
School book bags can be purchased from Ziggys. These are used to keep reading books and diaries in good condition.
Please do not let children bring toys into school unless requested by the teacher in order to support topic work. The school is not responsible for items brought into school which then get lost or broken.
Children are not permitted to bring items of value to school. Any money brought to school must be handed to the school office or class teacher for safe keeping.
Jewellery is discouraged in school. The only jewellery allowed in school are earring studs in pierced ears or a wristwatch.
A taweez (prayer from the Quran) may be attached to the inside of a jumper or cardigan by a very small safety pin. Children should not wear a taweez on a cord around the neck.
If a child comes to school wearing any other item of jewellery, they will be asked to remove it and to leave it at home in future.
