Welcome to Year 6
Class Teacher: Mrs E Duzgun
Higher Level Teaching Assistants: Ms S Irwin, Mrs R Hussain
Year 6 Reminders
Tuesday and Thursday: PE
Children must come to school in their PE kit on a Tuesday and Thursday. PE kit consists of: plain white t-shirt, black or dark blue jogging bottoms, black or dark blue tracksuit top/jumper and plain black trainers.
For PE, long hair must be tied back and earrings must be taken out.
Year six is a challenging year as we have the dreaded SATs but rest assured that all the staff work really hard to ensure that the children have the best opportunity possible to achieve their full potential. We also try to ensure that we have fun along the way and provide the children with some lovely lasting memories.
To help the children with their class learning, they are expected to complete homework which will support and enhance their classroom work. Children are expected to complete the following:
- Reading Plus – all children have their individual log in details and the recommended time per day is 15 minutes.
- TT Rockstars – all children have their individuals log in details and the recommended time per week is at least 30 minutes.
- Spellings – children will bring home a list of spellings on a Friday and they need to learn them ready for the test on the following Friday. Children who score 5 or lower will stay in at break time to practise them.
- Reading book – children should bring home their reading book and spend at least 10 minutes a day reading, either to themselves or an adult. This needs to be recorded in their reading record and signed by an adult.
Our Class Rules
We want our class to be a fair and happy place!
We decided on our rules together and they are:
As Year 6 pupils, we will concentrate, always listen and work hard to achieve our dreams. We will show perseverance and never give up.
We will follow the teacher’s instructions and learn to get along with ALL pupils and staff in our class.
Our behaviour will be excellent and our attitude will be much more mature, so that we are seen as role models by everyone else in the school.
We will display good hygiene by washing hands when we enter the classroom and help to keep each other safe.
Lastly, we will enjoy our final year at St Augustine’s and we will have fun!
Spellings are tested on a weekly basis (on a Friday) and follow the DfE statutory spelling list.
