Our Values
RESPECT HONESTY FRIENDSHIP CARE
At St Augustine’s, we are dedicated to ensuring that we nurture the development of the whole child. We encourage our children to grow in self-esteem, understand others, learn how to be a friend and to be a vital part of the whole school community. We support every child in developing their full potential morally, spiritually, culturally, intellectually and physically, and in doing so encourage them to grow in to rounded individuals capable of making a positive contribution to society and the environment in which they are to live.
Through our Christian ethos, our core values are: respect, honesty, care and friendship. These values are built into the ethos and teaching of the school and are modelled by everyone who works at St Augustine’s. We are committed to actively promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different values and beliefs; our pupils are encouraged to develop and demonstrate skills and attitudes that will allow them to participate fully in and contribute positively to life in modern Britain.
We take pride in how inclusive and diverse we are. We have a whole school approach to teaching the Equality Act 2010, which teaches our children that everyone is welcome at St Augustine’s- there are 'No Outsiders'. We respect one another’s race, religion, gender identity, age, disabilities, sexual orientation and gender. We value our multicultural community and celebrate our links with St Augustine's Centre and their work with refugees and asylum seekers.
All the members of our school family voted for our School Values in Summer 2021. It was really hard to narrow it down to our four key values of
RESPECT HONESTY FRIENDSHIP CARE
We have a value for each half term and our Collective Worship is based around this value. Sometimes our awards in Celebration Worship are given to pupils who have lived out one of our school values around school. They receive one of our Values Awards.
The Values for the next few half terms are:
