St Augustine's CE School

Learning for Life

Our School Vision and Values

Our school vision was written collectively with pupils, staff and governors contributing their thoughts about

'what is our why?'

here at St Augustine's.

Our school is a beacon of hope, where children and adults are respected and flourish individually;    where achievement, aspiration and skills are developed and nurtured, confidence built. A caring community where experiences help us learn for life and find our place within the world.

Love Your Neighbour as yourself    Mark 12:31

Our vision is at the heart of everything that we do in school - our relationships, our teaching, the reason behind the choices we have made around our curriculum, the opportunities we give our pupils and staff. Our vision is rooted in the theology of the story of               The Good Samaritan.  At St Augustine's we welcome everyone to our school family and we aim to support everyone to flourish -          pupils and staff, and to develop as individuals.

RESPECT                  HONESTY                FRIENDSHIP                    CARE

At St Augustine’s, we are dedicated to ensuring that we nurture the development of the whole child. We encourage our children to  grow in self-esteem, understand others, learn how to be a friend and to be a vital part of the whole school community. We support every child in developing their full potential morally, spiritually, culturally, intellectually and physically, and in doing so encourage them to grow in to rounded individuals capable of making a positive contribution to society and the environment in which they are to live.

Through our Christian ethos, our core values are: respect, honesty, care and friendship. These values are built into the ethos and teaching of the school and are modelled by everyone who works at St Augustine’s. We are committed to actively promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different values and beliefs; our pupils are encouraged to develop and demonstrate skills and attitudes that will allow them to participate fully in and contribute positively to life in modern Britain.

We take pride in how inclusive and diverse we are. We have a whole school approach to teaching the Equality Act 2010, which teaches our children that everyone is welcome at St Augustine’s- there are 'No Outsiders'. We respect one another’s race, religion, identity, age, disabilities, sexual orientation and gender. We value our multicultural community and celebrate our links with St Augustine's Centre and their work with refugees and asylum seekers. We are actively working towards becoming a recognised School of Sanctuary for all the work that we do to support our pupils and their families, including those who are new to the country.

All the members of our school family voted for our School Values in Summer 2021. It was really hard to narrow it down to our four key values of

 RESPECT                  HONESTY                FRIENDSHIP                    CARE

We have a value for each half term and our Collective Worship is based around this value. Sometimes our awards in Celebration Worship are given to pupils who have lived out one of our school values around school. They receive one of our Values Awards.

The Values for the next few half terms are:
